At DRG, we pride ourselves on being part of Taco Bell’s concept creation. Our new Danville Cantina is a great example of new innovation with the brand, and newsgroups across the country are taking note. Last week, Forbes featured the Cantina in an in-depth exclusive that impressively summarizes the new restaurant. This article stems from an interview we did with Forbes’ reporter Alicia Kelso. Kelso expressed her delight in discussing all things operations and franchisee relations. In addition to the Forbes piece, top-tier outlets covered our press release including media groups like CNNYahoo! Finance, and Business Insider and even lifestyle and trade media like Delish and NRN.

If there is any silver lining from this past year in the restaurant space, it’s that we now have a few solid case studies from brands that fared pretty well despite the crisis. Count Taco Bell among them.

At DRG, we care about our employees and the community members who help support our restaurants. That’s why we created DRG Cares — a nonprofit foundation aimed at helping those experiencing personal or financial hardship, illness, the effects of a natural disaster, and more. Through DRG Cares, those in need can apply for a grant and receive help right away. It’s been a powerful tool for our teams throughout the pandemic, supporting more than 130 employees over the last year. And now, through an effort from Taco Bell Corporate to support local charities, we can do even more.

From 3/18-3/31, our Taco Bell teams will be collecting donations when you place an order with us. It’s easy: add $1 or more to your transaction and 100% of your donation will go to those in need. Check out the DRG Cares website to learn more, apply for a grant, or make a donation today!

“The company doesn’t have to do that, you know. It makes you work harder, knowing that they have your back. You’re not just a number on payroll, with thousands of other people. You matter.”
–Tristan Vitale, DRG Team Member

Hear from a FEW DRG Cares recipients:

On Jan. 6, our DRG teams in California opened the company’s 4th Taco Bell Cantina! Located in Danville on Front Street, their new cantina is complete with an outdoor lighted patio, a full bar, a drive through and custom artwork.

Congratulations to the restaurant team:

Before opening day, the team in training got settled into their new community by sharing free tacos with local essential workers.

“It was our way to really meet our neighbors, and let everyone know we’re excited to be here in Danville” — James Aman, Area Coach

While guests are taking orders to-go for now, the space boasts plenty of room to hang out and enjoy yard games, a place to gather around the fire pit, and patio ambiance.

Yard games are waiting for guests when COVID restrictions loosen.

Here at DRG, we know the importance of supporting youth in our local community. We love making a difference! That is why we were so excited to sponsor a grant for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Nevada. BBBS recently reopened under strict guidelines so they could continue creating relationships between role-models and children. At BBBS’s annual Bike and Board Bonanza, our grant helped to provide bikes and skateboards to some of the youth in the program. Jason Dunn, Arby’s Sr. Director for DRG, and Laura Fuentes, Area Coach, had the honor of presenting the bikes and boards and meeting some of the recipients.

“Even though we were all wearing masks, their smiles and excitement could be felt throughout the day!” — Jason

The DRG team was excited to open two new restaurants in their Kansas City market last month. With one on Prospect Ave. and another on Miller Street, the new locations provide new jobs to the community, and, more importantly, another place for guests to order their most craveable foods! Congrats to the restaurant teams, and we look forward to serving more Kansas City residents.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
My name is Quamrul Mullah. After graduating from college, I began my career with Taco bell and started as a food service champion. Out of curiosity, and by asking a lot of questions, I started learning how to run a shift. I was promoted to shift leader. Then, a couple of months later, I became the AGM of the store. Eventually, I became the RGM.

My journey with Taco Bell has been lively and exciting, and I am always looking forward to adding more. I have always been skilled at bringing people together and working towards common goals.

My favorite part of working for DRG is building a culture of teamwork.
