To say Ashley Bautista is a Taco Bell fan is an understatement. “I love Taco Bell,” she says. “I love the food. I love the people. I really love my job.” So, it comes as no surprise that when the brand’s Nacho Fries launched with an Illuminati-style national campaign in 2017, Ashley was all about it. In fact, she was so passionate about Taco Bell’s commercial she decided to get a “Belluminati” tattoo on her forearm.

“The company knows I’m committed to Taco Bell for life,” Ashley says, noting her tattoo just further proves her point. “Restaurant General Manager isn’t going to be my last stop.”

Today, Ashley is RGM at DRG’s San Ramon Cantina – the only Taco Bell in the world with built-in X-box gaming consoles. According to Ashley, the cantina provides more of a dining experience than an average Taco Bell. Plus, the location offers boozy freezes among other alcoholic drinks. The restaurant’s high volume, diversity, team atmosphere, and commitment to top-notch guest service keeps Ashley coming to work with a smile each day.

“DRG is a company that’s focused on the people,” she says. “It’s not just the work experience I’m looking for. We’re all family here.”

Ariana Gomez is always searching for the next opportunity. After 12 years with McDonald’s, and without a chance to climb the career ladder, she found herself looking for more. In 2019, she put in an application for a job with DRG and since then, she hasn’t looked back. And this year, she has a lot to celebrate. As a recent promote to Area Coach, Gomez is ready to continue her journey of learning and growing with the company.

“This company gives you so much opportunity to do more,” Gomez said. “Leadership really cares about us. They care about your personal and professional life.”

Ariana hopes to become a Director of Operations someday. For now, she’s accomplished her short-term goal of becoming Area Coach, and she’s finding her way through her new job with plenty of support. In 2020, Ariana earned GM of the Year for the Nevada market. She also managed a new restaurant opening as well as becoming a certified training manger during 2021.

“I’m overseeing four restaurants and I’m getting to know my team,” she said. “I always wanted to be a teacher when I was little. Those dreams are coming true today!”

The new Arby’s on Horizon Ridge Pkwy in Henderson, NV is now open! The restaurant features the newly updated brand design, including custom booth and wall seating, new flooring and wall finishes, art work, wood paneling and of course, the iconic marquee-style A that represents the brand.

The new restaurant opening marks DRG’s third new Arby’s location this year. To celebrate with the community, Arby’s team members hosted a grand opening event on July 16th complete with prizes, family games and even mechanical bull rides in the parking lot! “We’re thrilled to finally open this location in Henderson,” said Jason Dunn, Sr. Director, Arby’s. “Our team here has definitely hit the ground running. We’re currently looking for more great leaders to join our team and keep up with our accelerated growth. We are excited to continue to grow the Arby’s brand!”

There was nothing ordinary about Isaiah Ritchie’s first job with Diversified Restaurant Group.

“We were tasked with opening up a cantina on the Las Vegas strip,”Ritchie said, referring back to his first few months as an Area Coach with DRG,“and it was something that had never been done before.”

But Ritchie didn’t join the DRG team to do ordinary work. On the hunt for something more, he was hired in March of 2016. After years of working for Five Guys – a burger chain in New Mexico – Ritchie followed his mentor, Todd Kelly, to Vegas. By November, he was at the helm of Taco Bell’s latest experiment: Opening their first “flagship” restaurant.

“Everything was new and un-tested,” Ritchie said about the cantina. “It took a lot of trial and error to make our opening go off without a hitch.”

Of course, surprises popped up here there. The cantina’s iconic bubble tubes were without color until Ritchie’s team got creative at 2 a.m. the night before opening. “We ended up coloring the water with cake die,” he said, laughing.

After helping the cantina team find their feet, DRG promoted Ritchie to Senior Area Coach – a transition that required him to split his time between the Las Vegas and Reno markets, overseeing 30 restaurants. From there, it was a natural progression to his current role as Director of Operations.

“I’m in charge of making sure we’re doing the right thing for everybody: the business, our employees and our customers,” Ritchie says. “I’m excited to continue learning from the best in the business.”

Fast forward to 2022.

Did you know that every year, Taco Bell employees raise money for various causes, including the Taco Bell Foundation, local nonprofits, and even our own charity organizations?

From March 18-31, our Taco Bell teams across the company were hard at work collecting donations for DRG Cares and local nonprofits in the communities we do business in.

Thanks to our teams’ hard work, DRG raised hundreds of thousands of dollars, and we’re excited to now provide opportunities to help team members and community members in need.

From T-ball to local Girl Scout troops, we were able to give back across the country thanks to our customer donations AND your efforts. Great work!

Quamrul Mullah is a Restaurant General Manager who took advantage of our tuition reimbursement program. We caught up with Quamrul to learn how the program helped further his education:

  1. What are your educational passions and goals outside of the restaurant?
Helping others is my passion. I believe life is not just about being happy, but being useful, compassionate, and making a difference. Outside of the restaurant, my educational goal is to become a better mindful learner. Being mindful allows flexible thinking with different possibilities in every situation.
  1. Why did you decide to leverage the tuition reimbursement program?
At DRG, the executive management team is very uplifting to each and everyone in the company. They create a caring culture and we move together. I decided to enroll in school to learn and work on my leadership skills  so I can be more productive and innovative at work. Since the Tuition Assistance program is available, I thought the program would be helpful to me.
  1. How did the program help support you, or make you feel supported?
Tuition for school is very expensive. This program helped me pay my tuition fees and expenses. By reducing financial concerns, I have more time for studying and learning. This program is a savior for me.
  1. What’s your current role and title with DRG?
I’m a Restaurant General Manager, currently in a stretch assignment to oversee three locations. The lessons I have learned at the Organizational Leadership program have been invaluable and eye-opening. I want to bring out some of the skills I learned including visionary leadership, effective change-making and strategic planning to the managers for outstanding operation excellence.

From March 18-31, our Taco Bell team members asked guests to donate a dollar (or more) from each transaction.
