We’re not just here to make tacos, but to help youth grow and lead successful lives. DRG is a proud participant in Taco Bell Foundation’s Community Grants program. It’s so impactful to see our fundraising efforts come to fruition when a check is presented to our community partners. Our longstanding relationships with Junior Achievement, Boys and Girls Club, and Big Brothers Big Sisters allow us to do just that.

Funding rolls in all year long in our restaurants with the Round Up program, a system implemented by our CEO David Grieve, where customers can round up their order total to the nearest dollar at the front counter and kiosk. Taco Bell Corporate handles the money distribution, but it’s based on how much we fundraise in each market as a company. The Round Up program helps fund Taco Bell Foundation’s Live Más Scholarships.

“Round Up is such a big piece of who we are, as we get to make a positive impact on the lives of the people we serve.” – Sierra Burk, Communications & Media Manager

Inspiring Partnership

A special opportunity arose when we partnered with Junior Achievement to speak before the Young Women’s Leadership Academy about our careers. The day consisted of talking about the various DRG departments and how the sky is the limit in the food industry! We ended with a competition where we served as judges as the young women were tasked with creating a unique marketing campaign for the Rolled Chicken Tacos. The day was fun and some amazing ideas were shared.

2023 Check Donation Presentations:
Final Tallies

All in all, DRG gave out nearly $2 million in community grants among all of our markets and $321,520 in community grants in Nevada! Check back later to see how much we raise in 2024! The bar has been set high, but we love accepting this challenge in the name of youth in our communities.

On Friday, December 8th, we opened our first Ghost Kitchen within Cloud Kitchens’ Charter Oak Food Pickup a Bay Area ghost kitchen that specializes in delivery service. This is the only ghost kitchen location within the Taco Bell brand’s portfolio.

Guests can order delivery via the Taco Bell App or on their favorite delivery platform – DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, or Postmates.

“We’re excited to open the first Ghost Kitchen Taco Bell within Charter Oak Food Pickup and continue our commitment to finding innovative solutions for delivery,” said SG Ellison, CEO & President of Diversified Restaurant Group. “This is a great way for us to reach more customers in the Bayshore, Bernal Heights, West Portal, and Sunset District Neighborhoods. We especially like that this model is a vehicle to help us serve communities where real estate is tough to secure.”

Cloud Kitchen facilities are built for delivery as there is no storefront or dining area. They are designed for speed, quality, and scale. The Charter Oak Ghost Kitchen utilizes state-of-the-art Cloud Kitchens technology to efficiently fulfill delivery orders, providing an even more convenient solution to customers on the go.

Taco Bell at Charter Oak Food Pickup will be open every day from 10 am to 3 am.

To place your order at the new ghost kitchen Taco Bell, download the Taco Bell App or use your favorite food delivery provider from the App Store or Google Play.

When it comes to fast food, we’re honored to be at the top of the list. And don’t take our word for it. The people of Las Vegas have spoken! We’re proud to be winners of the Best of Las Vegas competition

2023 marks the 42nd installment of the Best of Las Vegas. Throughout the competition, a record-breaking 9.9 million votes were cast, making it the largest Best Of contest in North America (according to their website).

Our Taco Bells in the Las Vegas area ranked among the top fast food selections, alongside Wingzone and Lobster 3 Ways Food Truck.

“We’re honored to be Vegas’s first choice for 24 hour Mexican food,” says Sierra Burk, DRG’s Communications and Media Manager.

“A big congrats to our team members and leaders who show up every day for our incredible customers. Well deserved!”

Keeping up our momentum in bringing more modernized restaurants to our guests, DRG’s latest Taco Bell renovation in Overland Park, KS is now complete! Featuring updated dining areas and restrooms, we invited the community to check it out for themselves during a recent ribbon cutting.

“The renovated Overland Park Taco Bell not only looks great but offers more convenience and better service for guests, no matter where or how they choose to dine,” says our President & CEO, SG Ellison.

Ever focused on innovation and efficiency, and how these elements enhance the guest experience, the Overland location now boasts improvements to the ordering process with not one, but TWO digital boards for mobile orders, and integrated menu boards for on-site diners.

DRG is thrilled to welcome Ben Marmor as our new Chief Financial and Strategy Officer. Ben’s vast experience and deep strategic financial prowess will make him an asset to our team, and is sure to help propel us forward.

Ben joins us from Duraflame, where he found success as the CFO. Prior to that, he served as VP of Finance for the West Region of Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits. In both roles, Ben’s strategic financial insights greatly aided these organizations in their successes.

Throughout his career, Ben has gained experiences throughout multiple functions and organizations, including consumer packaged goods manufacturing, distribution, consulting, and financial services. His work at renowned brands like Duraflame and Jack Daniel’s showcases his range in ability to understand various sectors.

In addition to earning his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, Ben has an impressive educational foundation. He secured his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Richmond, and followed that with an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Ben’s new responsibilities include managing and leading the financial initiatives of DRG, while also overseeing all Human Resources functions. He also looks forward to continuing the development of a world-class team and contributing to DRG’s growth.

Outside of his professional life, Ben lives in Las Vegas with his wife and three children, and their dog, Derby. Ben also knows food – at one point in his life, Ben held the distinction of being a certified judge with the Kansas City Barbecue Society.

We greatly look forward to harnessing Ben’s expertise and leadership as we build and grow our organization. Please join us in giving Ben a big DRG welcome – we are thrilled to have you, Ben!

We met up with Corrine during the DRG Champions Club trip in San José del Cabo, Mexico. Corrine is a General Manager in North Las Vegas, as well as a CTM for DRG Meats – the Arby’s side of DRG.

“It’s been incredible,” Corrine shared about the trip. “I did everything I wanted to do, I saw everything I wanted to see, and it’s been amazing.”

Corrine’s infectious personality is a perfect example of DRG’s core values, and she knows them by heart. “Dream big, work hard, play fair, have fun, get it done, and make a difference,” Corrine says. “And that’s what we do.”

While Corrine is so grateful to have been invited to Champions Club this year, she feels that it is her responsibility as a manager to develop others to earn their spot in the following years. “My favorite thing is training and development … I think it’s my job to bring someone else here next year, she says.

When you earn your spot as a Champs Club member, you also earn the right to bring a plus-one on the complimentary trip. Of all the people she could bring, Corrine brought a colleague of hers — an area coach from Taco Bell. She believes spending extra time with colleagues is vital for her professional development. Corrine’s generosity was swiftly rewarded. “I think I found a new mentor,” she shares.

Congrats, Corrine! We can’t wait to see who from your area will make the trip next year.

It’s hard to believe another year has come and gone. Here at DRG, we reflect on the biggest highlights of another great year in the exciting, ever-evolving QSR space:

EV Charging Taco Bell

As another exciting company first, in October 2022, we opened our first solar-powered electric vehicle(EV) charging station at our south San Francisco location on El Camino Real. According to reporting by Forbes here, hooking up to one of our six fast chargers will provide an EV driver with “46 miles of range in 10 minutes”! So come get your EV charge, a chalupa and drive away happy!

Cantina Opening

We celebrated a first with the opening of Kansas City’s first Taco Bell Cantina. This cool sports-themed cantina in Westport, MO was a hit with locals and features murals with the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals battling it out over Taco Bell.

Volunteering

We donated some of our time to build bikes for disadvantaged children for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Nevada.

Spotlights

We introduced some amazing people at all levels within the company on our company blog, including RGM Rudy Ramirez, Area Coach Ryan Kovac and Senior Area Coach Sean McGuire, to name a few.

Recognition

There are certain celebrations we count on with such high achieving crews, like honoring the newest members of DRG’s Champions’ Club, Golden Bell winners and Signature Restaurant achievements, and other top performing leaders throughout the company.

Scholarships

We celebrated the success of eight of our own being named Live Más scholarship winners with awards ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 each!

RSC Remodel

We remodeled our Restaurant Support Center (RSC) in Las Vegas, NV to be better than ever, complete with a custom mural and artwork throughout, a high-end lounge and coffee bar, a new training room, and plenty of space to gather and collaborate.

Interviews

DRG President SG Ellison interviewed about the success of the 60-year-old Taco Bell brand on Taco Bell’s “Recipe for Restless Creativity” podcast.

Core Value Recap

We promoted our core values by sharing them companywide at our 2022 Leadership Summit. DRG’s core values, which aren’t new but now seem more official are: 1) We do the right thing. 2) We are authentic. 3) We are innovators. 4) We have fun!

Social Stats

DRG is growing its social media presence on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. In 2022, our Instagram account saw the most shares with our highlight reel from the annual Champions’ Club reward trip, which was in beautiful San José del Cabo this year.

At the 2022 DRG Leadership Summit, Co-COOs Todd Kelly and Tom Douglas introduced our “official” company core values. While the values were shared for the first time in Las Vegas, our leaders say these aren’t necessarily “new.”

“We’ve been actively living and breathing these values as a company for a very long time,” Tom says. “We just finally have put them down on paper.”

Take personal accountability and lead with integrity.

Be yourself and show you care.

Embrace change and challenge the status quo.

Positive energy is contagious.

Did you hear the news? We recently broke ground on an innovative project that will put electric vehicle (EV) chargers in the parking lot of our south San Francisco Taco Bell on El Camino Real. EV customers will now be able to fuel their bodies and charge their cars, all at once. Forbes took note in its recent article, “Some Taco Bell Customers Will Soon Be Able to Order a Chalupa and an EV Charge.”

The project, at the south San Francisco location, is expected to conclude at the end of October 2021. It exemplifies our commitment to trying new things and being at the forefront of quick service innovation.

More About Taco Bell’s Charging Stations

Specifically, six RTM direct current (DC) “fast chargers,” built by Tritium, will be installed across six parking slots at the location. The project will also include a solar array, which will serve as backup in case of a power outage. According to a recent article by Forbes, hooking up to one of these fast chargers will provide an EV driver with “46 miles of range in 10 minutes”! Software built by ChargeNet will make mobile payment for the service easy.

When it comes to  this new concept, it’s a “win-win” for local communities and customers, who can now pull up, plug in electric cars and grab a quick bite to eat. We hope to further promote the adoption of electric vehicles which may climb up to 35 million by 2030, as recently reported by Nation’s Restaurant News.

Our new EV charging concept joins a list of other unique, one-of-a-kind offerings launched by the company through its popular cantina design, found on the Las Vegas Strip and at other California locations:
